I think access is a great solution to that and will make it more accessible for people to have new things on a regular basis. This could work with both rentals and a subscription fee, then you’d be able to hire anything you wanted for a short or long period of time. On the other hand I’m a big fan of my clothes looking worn in. I buy things to last me the long run and I like my garments to show a story. In this rental format everything would have to be very clean and near mint condition, which might not work for everyone. There is definitely a market for hiring luxury items and maybe even in the street wear industry for brands like Supreme and Bape. One thing that can be taken into account with the rental of luxury items is they tend not to be manufactured in large quanties, so the consumer access could be reduced when certain Items are in high demand. It could be as easy as hiring out a pair of sneakers wearing them out, getting your instagram pictures and sending them back. Could it be more ideal? Well, theres upsides to owning your own clothing like the memories of making the purchases or being given a piece of clothing can be pretty special. I’ve got clothes I have no intension in wearing but I keep them as momentos from when I was younger. If you are hiring clothes you wont have the items to go with the memories. To conclude my argument I think there is defiantly a space in the market for this service but maybe not for every person or every desired item. It will come down to the individual person and their individual needs and desires.
