Second Hand Beauty

Second hand make up. The US trend that’s heading to the UK.  Glambot.com is a website based in the West coast of the US. Since launching in 2015 the buy and sell makeup website has most designer sanitary and beauty brands such as Kat Von D, Jeffree Star, Versace and more. The service takes all your unwanted beauty products and firstly starts by fully authenticating the items to make sure you’re paying for a 100% legit product. They then go on to sterilising them using a number of sanitisation techniques. Whether it’s a barely used eyeshadow palette or a concealer that turned out to be the wrong shade for your skin. The product is then repackaged into a new container, then it is sold at a discounted price. A quick look through the site shows listings of these high end brands all selling for a fraction of their suggested retail price. Glambot are now shipping to the UK as the trend is starting to take off. It’s a phenomenon I don’t think anyone could have really predicted. So where is the catch? Well that’s the thing, it completely comes down to personal preference. Secondhand just means that somebody owned it before you. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s been used, and if you’re getting something that has simply been owned by someone before you, that’s new or basically new for less than the price it would have been, then it’s a win win. I think purchasing your cosmetics from a website like Glambot is a great way to get premium products for a deducted price. However, you can also buy from online trading websites such as Ebay and Depop. You can definitely find some great deals. Id just be cautious with how reputable the seller is, always checking customer reviews. I wouldn’t recommend buying from just random listings.  So in my conclusion I think second hand make up is great way to be sustainable and save money on the products you want.
