Hello

blog post (001)

My name is Patrick Thomas. I'm currently a fashion promotion student at the University of South Wales. I would consider myself a mixture between a fashion designer and a photographer; as I work with both mediums. I started my first clothing range when I was 16 and have been working on clothes since. My first brand was called @the99brand and it was a fine art influenced street wear brand. I was pretty happy how far I took the brand as I started to make international sales using influencers pretty early. I stopped running the brand last year as I kind of lost my love for that street wear style and realised it wasn’t what I wanted to make any more. Ive got plans to start a new brand in the near future under the name Tyglas. The name Tyglas is a name coming from a family story where both sides of the house had large windows making it completely visible to see through the house, that part of my family was then nicknamed the Tyglas family. I want the brand to be treated like wearable art and maybe look into exhibiting the pieces in galleries rather than stores, This is just an idea for the future. Also as of recent Ive been doing a majority of my creative work in photography, working mostly with 35 and 120mm film. Ive taking mostly portrait work trying to create a cinematic visual style but also Ive been shooting a-lot of gigs and events mostly in Cardiffs independent music scene. Recently I was asked to shoot some gig photos for Fred Perry Subculture for their Independent Venue Week. Other than that Ive been working on a music video project with the Cardiff band Al Moses for their new single “he truly is the son of god”.
